Growing up, while my parents were really hard working, we lived week to week and never had any savings. I didn’t go to private school, I started working as early as I could and when I finished school, I fell pregnant and had my eldest daughter when I was 19. At 20, my second daughter came along, my marriage fell apart, and there I was without any education other than a high school certificate, living a life that looked like an episode of Upper Middle Bogan!

I knew it was absolutely ‘sink or swim’. So, I started working as an admin assistant at a local accounting firm. It wasn’t easy. But after doing a little bookkeeping on the side, I quickly realised: ‘hey, I’m actually good at this, and I really enjoy it.’ 

So, I put myself through uni to get a Bachelor of Commerce, became a small business accountant et voilà — now I’m an award-winning international entrepreneur and the manager of three successful businesses! Easy peasy. Well, not exactly. 

Running your own business, especially in a regional area, has been far from lollipops and lychee martinis, much to my disappointment! But coming up through the school of hard knocks and working round the clock has made me so passionate about supporting women to smash the sh!t out of their business dreams. 

I love being that trusted confidant, business adviser, financial sounding board, and cheerleader who’s excited to see you succeed but also brave enough to cut through the BS and tell you what you need to hear, even if it’s hard.
